The son of Zeus and Leto, twin brother of Artemis, god of music and of divination. The pregnant Leto sought desperately for a place to give birth to her children, but everybody kicked her out because of fear of the anger of Hera. Only the wandering island, Ortygia accepted and Apollo full of gratitude propped the island in the center of the Aegean sea and named it Delos ("shiny"). The most important place of worship was the Oracle of Delphi, which he freed from the dominance of the Python. The sacred symbols of Apollo is the tripedal, the guitar, the lyre and the bow or arrow. His sacred animals is the wolf, the hawk, the swan, the raven, the rooster, the grasshopper, the dolphin and the ram.
